Child Therapy
I work with children 8+ who have experienced grief, sexual abuse, divorce, low self-esteem, anger, and challenges within the family system. I only work with children in person. A child’s therapy will naturally look different from a teen’s or an adult’s. While older clients can verbally express their thoughts and feelings, a child’s language is play. Through toys, sand, games, stories, and art, children explore feelings, build resilience, and learn the tools to handle life’s ups and downs in a way that feels safe and natural to them.
Trust is important in any therapeutic relationship, and I will always protect your child’s confidentiality. At the same time, I work from a relational lens and deeply value parent / caregiver involvement if or when it is deemed appropriate. This may include joint sessions, regular check-ins, feedback, or supportive guidance so we can work as a team.
Your child is with me for one hour a week — about four hours a month — and with you the rest of the time. That’s why your participation, understanding, and insight are such an essential part of your child’s growth and healing. Together, we make the biggest difference.
